I'm alarmed that over 90 percent of Americans are deficient in thecrucial fatty acids eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). Since you probably don't eat enough low-mercury fatty fish and other omega-3 rich foods, supplementing with fish oil becomes mandatory.
How our consumption of fat has changed through history
Once upon a time, we ate about equal amounts of omega-3 fats and omega-6 fats. When the industrial revolution occurred about 140 years ago, a growing vegetable oil industry coupled with increased grains that fed livestock meant people began eating way more omega-6s,
adversely affecting omega-3 levels.
Vegetable oil consumption increased even more during the end of the 20th century, making our diet much higher in inflammatory omega-6s. Research points to chronic inflammation as the underlying cause of most modern disease. When you eat too many omega-6s, you increase inflammation while reducing the amount of crucial anti-inflammatory omega-3 fats.
The research-backed benefits of omega-3s.
That's too bad, considering the many benefits of omega-3s. One very large interventional study found patients who took fish oil after having a heart attack dramatically reduced their risk for sudden death and subsequent heart attacks. Another review with 72 studies, which looked at 600,000 people in 19 countries, found omega-3 levels directly correlate with heart disease.
Fish oil can also affect mental health. Research shows omega-3 fats help prevent Alzheimer's, can ameliorate attention deficit disorder
(ADD), and helps heal depression. In fact, research shows fish oil supplements can be as effective as antidepressants for depression.Other studies demonstrate fish oil's benefits to prevent or reverse various autoimmune and inflammatory diseases including arthritis, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, psoriasis, lupus, MS, and migraine headaches.
All fish oils are not created equally. Quality fish oil should be properly filtered, come from sustainable sources, be analyzed by third-party organizations, and be combined with antioxidants since fish oil is a polyunsaturated fat that can quickly go rancid. Even if you're regularly eating wild-caught fish, you might not be getting enough omega-3s. Here are five ways fish oil can help your well-being, depending on your goals.
1. Weight loss
Research shows a diet with healthy fats, specifically the fatty acids EPA and DHA in fish oil, help lower total body fat compared with other fatty
acids. Fish oil can also positively affect stress hormones like cortisol to lower chronic inflammation that sometimes stalls fat loss.
2. Mental health
Studies show DHA and EPA can help improve your mood, ameliorate depression, and boost overall cognitive performance. DHA benefits brain development and performance, while EPA improves mood and behavior.
Inflammation affects every disease, including dementia. Research shows omega-3 fats can decrease symptoms of Alzheimer's and prevent dementia.
Fish oil can alleviate stress and the stress-related damage. One study found using fish oil for just three weeks reduced several stress markers including cortisol and adrenaline.
Fish oil can greatly reduce risk for many types of cancers, including colon, prostate, and breast cancer. Studies show fish oil can make conventional cancer drugs more effective and provides an
effective therapy on its own.
Combining quality fish oil with a low-glycemic, higher quality fat dietcreates a path to becoming lean and healthy.

2) GINGER: 10000X STRONGER THAN CHEMO IN CANCER RESEARCH MODEL

A new study reveals ginger contains a pungent compound that could be up to 10,000 times more effective than conventional chemotherapy in targeting the cancer stem cells at the root of cancer malignancy.
A new study published in PLoS reveals a pungent component within ginger known as 6-shogaol is superior to conventional chemotherapy in targeting the root cause of breast cancer malignancy: namely, the breast cancer stem cells.
As we have discussed in greater detail in a previous article titled, “Cancer Stem Cells: The Key To Curing Cancer,” cancer stem cells are at the root of a wide range of cancers, not just breast cancer, and are sometimes referred to as “mother cells” because they are responsible for producing
all the different “daughter” cell types that makeup the tumor colony. While cancer stem cells only constitute between .2 and 1% of the cells within any given tumor, they have the seeming “immortal” ability to self renew, are capable of continuous differentiation, are resistant to conventional chemotherapeutic agents, and are tumorigenic, i.e. are capable of “splitting off” to create new tumor colonies. Clearly, the cancer stem cells within a tumor must be destroyed if cancer treatment is to affect a lasting cure.
The new study titled, “6-Shogaol Inhibits Breast Cancer Cells and Stem Cell-Like Spheroids by Modulation of Notch Signaling Pathway and Induction of Autophagic Cell Death,” identified powerful anti-cancer stem cell activity in 6-shogaol, a pungent constituent of ginger produced when the root is either dried or cooked. The study also found that the cancer-destroying effects occurred at concentrations that were non-toxic to non-cancerous cells – a
crucial difference from conventional cancer treatments that do not exhibit this kind of selective cytotoxicity and therefore can do great harm to the patient.
The authors of the study further affirm these points:
“Cancer stem cells pose serious obstacle to cancer therapy as they can be responsible for poor prognosis and tumour relapse. To add into the misery, very few chemotherapeutic compounds show promise to kill these cells. Several researchers have shown that cancer stem cells are resistant to paclitaxel, doxorubicin, 5-fluorouracil, and platinum drugs [8, 16]. CSCs are thus an almost unreachable population in tumours for chemotherapy. Therefore any compound, that shows promise towards cancer stem cells, is a highly desirable step towards cancer treatment and should be followed up for further development.”
The researchers identified a variety of ways by which 6-shagoal targets breast cancer:
It reduces the
expression of CD44/CD24 cancer stem cell surface markers in breast cancer spheroids (3-dimensional cultures of cells modeling stem cell like cancer)
It significantly affects the cell cycle, resulting in increased cancer cell death
It induces programmed cell death primarily through the induction of autophagy, with apoptosis a secondary inducer
It inhibits breast cancer spheroid formation by altering Notch signaling pathway through γ-secretase inhibition.
It exhibits cytotoxicity (cell killing properties) against monolayer (1-dimensional cancer model) and spheroid cells (3-dimensional cancer model)
It was in evaluating the last mode of 6-shagoal’s chemotherapeutic activity and comparing it to the activity of the conventional chemotherapeutic agent taxol that the researchers discovered an astounding difference. Whereas taxol exhibited clear cytotoxicity in the one-dimensional (flat) monolayer
experimental model, it had virtually no effect on the spheroid model, which is a more “real world” model reflecting the 3-dimensionality of tumors and their stem cell subpopulations. Amazingly, this held true even when the concentration of taxol was increased by four orders of magnitude:
“In contrast [to 6-shagoal], taxol, even though was highly active in monolayer cells, did not show activity against the spheroids even at 10000 fold higher concentration compared to 6-shogoal.”
This is a highly significant finding, as it affirms a common theme in cancer research that acknowledges the primarily role of cancer stem cells: namely, while conventional techniques like surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy are effective at reducing a tumor’s size, sometimes to the point where it is “debulked,” burned,” or “poisoned” out of the body even below the threshold of re-detection, the appearance of “winning the battle” often comes at a steep price, as
ultimately the cancer stem cell population regrows the tumors, now with increased vengeance and metastastic invasiveness, resulting in the cancer “winning the war.”
The monolayer model, which does not account for the complex immunity of actual cancer stem-cell based tumors against chemoagents like taxol, represents the old preclinical model of testing cancer treatments. The spheroid model, on the other hand, clearly shows that even 10,000 times higher concentrations of taxol are not capable of beating this ginger component at selectively targeting the root cause of the tumor malignancy.
In their concluding remarks, the authors point out a hugely important distinction between natural anti-cancer agents and conventional ones that have only been introduced in the past half century or so, namely, “Dietary compounds are welcome options for human diseases due to their time-tested acceptability by human bodies.”

These experientially-based “trials” are validated not by RCTs, or a peer-reviewed publication process, but by the fact that we all made it through this incalculably vast span of time to be alive here today. Consider also that if our ancestors made the wrong dietary choice by simply mistaking an edible berry for a poisonous one, the consequences could be deadly. This places even greater emphasis on how the “time testing” of dietary compounds was not an academic but a life-death affair, and by implication, how the information contained within various cultural
traditions as “recipes” passed down from generation to generation are “epigenetic inheritance systems” no less important to our health and optimal gene expression as the DNA in our own bodies.
Ultimately, this new study adds to a growing body of research indicating that cancer stem cell targeting approaches using natural substances present in the human diet for thousands of years are far superior chemotherapy and radiation, both of which actually increase the relative populations of cancer stem cells versus non-tumorigenic ones. 3) FEEL HUNGRY ALL THE TIME? FIND OUT WHY

You just ate your heart out, but in an hour's time you feel hungry again; is that what's happening to you through the day? Well, there may be quite a few reasons for it which we generally neglect on a daily basis. Hunger is nothing but the physiological need for water, salt and calories, other factors like stress and anxiety may be a trigger too. It is normal to feel hungry as your body needs energy, however, if your stomach is constantly rumbling out of hunger, there is a chance your body is signalling at something else. We give you some important reasons that may be leading to constant feeling of being hungry through the day.
1. You are sleep deprived
If you are deprived of a goodnight's sleep, there is a chance it may be leading to surging levels of ghrelin, a hormone that
stimulates appetite. A restless sleep also decreases the levels of leptin, a hormone causing feeling of fullness. Also, after a poor sleep, you are likely to wake fatigued and weary, and in a desperate attempt by your body to shoot up energy levels you crave for more food, even if you are not hungry. So you must sleep for at least 7-8 hours to have your energy levels back on track.
2. You are dehydrated
Dehydration can be one of the biggest reasons for excessive hunger pangs; simply because your body needs some kind of fluid. But here instead of drinking water you tend to grab a pack of junk as the hypothalamus, the part of the brain that regulates appetite and thirst gets confused due to loss of fluid. So it is imperative to drink water first thing in the morning and a few glasses more throughout the day to ensure you stay hydrated.
3. You are stressed out
Emotional eating is a common but concerning issue.
Whether it is a personal or a professional problem, the stress you are dealing with is directly proportional to hunger. When you are tense, your body ramps up the production of stress hormones adrenaline and cortisol. These elevated levels trick you into thinking that your body is in need of energy and so your appetite starts to work up. Try and divert your mind when you are stressed and instead focus on things that you would like to do.
4. You are eating way too many carbohydrates
Ever wondered why you feel like having another bite of that cake when you have already had enough? As you eat these sugary carbs, your blood sugar level spikes up. The fluctuation in the blood sugar is the major cause of hunger, so all you need to do is to get your carb content from foods that also have lot of fiber in them. Foods like apples, almonds, chia seeds and pistachios can help.
5. You are eating low fat
have been linked to feeling fuller for longer. So, if you are satisfied in your meal, you would more likely listen to your hunger cues and not eat again till you are actually hungry. But if you are eating a diet with low fats, you may not feel satiated and hence, may feel hungry time and again. Load up more on healthy fats like nuts and seeds, eggs, fish, cheese, dark chocolate, et al.
6. You are not eating enough protein
Protein is known to provide energy and further keep hunger at bay. Health experts have always advised to include more protein in your breakfast so you can feel satiated through the day and wouldn't need to eat extra unless hungry. Include more eggs, lean meat, whole grains, Greek yogurt and others in your diet.
