1) RELAXATION TECHNIQUES FOR STRESS MANAGEMENT

The unhealthy affects of stress can be evidenced in
physical as well as mental and emotional health
problems. Besides heart and digestive problems, stress
can contribute to overall muscle aches, stiffness and
even pain.
Relaxation techniques can help manage the affects of
stress on the body as well as the mind. There are
various techniques one can use to experience a state
of relaxation and calmness, which require little time
or effort on the part of the individual seeking to
benefit from them.
Here is one relaxation technique that many people have
found beneficial in managing the level of stress
they
experience.
Stair Step Relaxation Technique
Begin with a series of deep, cleansing breaths. Feel
your body relax, as you slowly breath in and out. It
can be helpful to imagine the tension and stress
leaving your body as you exhale, while peace and calm
fill you, as you inhale clean, fresh air.
Once you have done this for a period of two to three
minutes, begin to experience the tension leaving your
muscles, one at a time.
Once you are ready, picture yourself at the top of a
flight of 10 stairs. Take one step down this set of
stairs, and imagine that your body, your mind, and
your spirit feel more relaxed, and more at ease as you
reach this step. Say the number "One" as you descend.
With each succeeding step you can experience a deeper
and deeper state of calm and relaxation. As you
descend upon each step say the corresponding number of
the step you are on.
When
you reach 10, which is at the bottom of this set
of steps, you will be entirely calm and relaxed. Any
problems or worries you had will have vanished, and
you will feel totally at peace.
Once you have experienced this state for a moment or
two, you will be ready to come back up the set of
stairs. With each step that you climb, you will become
a little more awake and alert to your surroundings.
Your body and mind will remain at calm and at peace
even after you return to the final step. You will feel
renewed energy, and a renewed sense of purpose and
joy, as you return to the top of the stairs.

2) THE HEALTH BENEFITS OF RAW HONEY: A SACRED FOOD FOR MODERN TIMES

When archaeologists began excavating Egyptian tombs around the turn of the 19th century, they found something unexpected: pots of raw honey, thousands of years old, perfectly preserved. Clearly the Egyptians considered honey a sacred food, and with good reason—its medicinal
properties are legendary and part of the reason why it is able to remain unspoiled… literally forever. Raw honey never goes bad. As an eternal food, it makes perfect sense to bury it with the pharaohs, who the Egyptians believed would need nourishment during their endless journey throughout the afterlife. And herein also lies a clue to why raw honey has been valued as a healing substance throughout the ages. Even Aristotle, who recognized bees as having divine qualities, wrote of raw
honey’s medicinal benefits during his time.
After collecting sugar-rich nectar from flowers, bees mix it with a special enzyme in their stomachs called glucose oxidase. This breaks the nectar down into two compounds: gluconic acid and hydrogen peroxide. While most people have never heard of gluconic acid, hydrogen peroxide is a bit more familiar, known fondly as one of the most powerful substances on the planet for preventing infections and killing pathogens like fungus, mold and harmful bacteria. As such, raw honey is a top-notch wound healer and has been used by physicians for thousands of years. In fact, many hospitals worldwide now use honey- infused bandages to help accelerate wound healing.
But it’s not just the hydrogen peroxide that gives raw honey such remarkable properties. Raw honey is also rich in naturally occurring vitamins and minerals, enzymes, amino acids, antioxidants, pre- and probiotics, and a host of other phytonutrients and
medicinal compounds, which vary depending on what type of plant bees harvest their nectar from. For example, bees who primarily harvest from the manuka plant, found growing wildly throughout New Zealand, produce honey rich in methylglyoxal, making manuka honey more powerfully antibacterial than other varieties.

The plant from which the bees graze lends another highly sought after property to the honey—a rich, luxurious and unique flavor profile. Raw honey is similar to wine in that each species of plant imparts a unique taste to the final product and produces an incredible spectrum of color and consistencies, ranging from a thick, black molasses-like syrup to a light, amber-colored liquid.
In order for honey to retain its medicinal properties, it must be consumed in a form as close to its natural, raw state as possible. This means that ideally honey should be
unfiltered, unheated (unpasteurized) and raw. In addition, bees should be harvesting from wild or organically grown plants. Though this can be difficult to ensure, it is important not only for the final quality of the raw honey, but also for the health of the bees as well.
In recent years, massive numbers of honey bees have been mysteriously dying in alarming numbers. Intensive research has determined that high levels of pesticides and other agricultural chemicals are the primary culprit. By purchasing your raw honey from bee keepers who adhere to only the highest quality standards, you can play a direct role in keeping bee populations healthy and thriving despite the threats they are facing. Moreover, you can help preserve the ecosystems that bees influence, since cross-pollination is critical to the health of almost every biome on the planet.
When buying raw honey make sure it meets stringent credentials for quality, taste, ethical sourcing,

3) HOME REMEDIES FOR HYPERPIGMENTATION-NATURAL SKIN LIGHTENING

Sensitive skin is something most of us suffer from, and most of us go to extreme measures to make sure our skin is healthy, but in the summer sun even our extreme measures tend to surrender. Most of us religiously take care of our facial skin, but at times realise we are missing out on the rest of the body. Body parts such as elbows, napes of necks, knees and underarms tend to suffer from hyperpigmentation more than other parts of the body. This is mainly because skin in these areas is different in texture and is more prone to patchiness.
The skin in our joints is different in the sense that they are folded, which is necessary to allow movement, and also because they are always in contact
with other objects, such as resting elbows on desks, knocking with knuckles, friction of collars with the neck and friction of underarms with the body. All these together make the skin thicker which means it requires extra care and protection for it to be equally healthy and radiant like skin in other parts of the body.
Fear not, this extra care won't break the bank. There are various at home remedies you can try that will gradually reduce patchiness and pigmentation. First, let's see what not to do. Because the skin is thicker most of us tend to over exfoliate, scrubbing away thinking it will reduce the darkness. Unfortunately that is not the case. It will only end up making skin tougher and darker, maybe even bruised, which in Asian skin like ours helps intensify pigmentation. Now for what you can do. Here are a series of methods and ingredients that will help lighten these hyperpigmented areas and all you have to do is make a trip to the kitchen!
1. Exfoliation is the key, as long as it's not too harsh. This will help brush off layers of dead skin cells that make the area patchy and leave a soft smooth surface for further remedies to work more effectively. Sugar scrubs are very effective mixed with olive oil or honey or any other medium to make it less harsh. Soft hand cleansing with natural ingredients is always better than chemical exfoliates.
2. Mint leaves are known to be full of oils and brightening properties. Boil mint leaves for a good few minutes, add lemon juice to the water to make it stronger, and apply it on the affected areas using cotton balls. Do not wash it off immediately, but let your skin absorb it, and then wash off. This helps even out skin tone.
3. The yoghurt in your refrigerator is more useful than you think. Yoghurt has amazing brightening properties and helps immensely with sunburn. Yoghurt mixed with white vinegar creates a paste which will
help lighten pigmented areas a lot. Using this regularly will give you quick results.
4. Turmeric, as we all know, helps even skin tone. Mixing raw turmeric juice with milk and massaging it on the affected places will help improve skin texture and eventually even it out. Do this as frequently as you want, as there are no side effects or harshness whatsoever.
5. Aloe vera gel also has naturally brightening and lightening properties which too help even out skin tone. Other than that, aloe vera gel has cooling properties which help calm irritated skin and also promotes repair of damaged skin cells. Cut open an aloe vera leaf, extract the gel and apply to pigmented skin. Doing this once a day everyday will give you visible results.
6. Baking soda is an unusual ingredient, but very effective for this purpose. This can be used with a variety of other ingredients as a medium. Mix it with water, rose water, honey or milk, make a
paste, and apply to needed areas. Wash off after few minutes or once the paste is dry. Baking soda gives very fast results compared to some other methods. Twice a week is good enough as too much would mean excess exfoliation.
7. Lemons and limes are a natural bleaching agent. This alone is usually hard to use or apply, so use lemon juice as a medium for other ingredients which will help boost the lightening process. You could also cut a lemon in half, dip cut side onto sugar, and use it as a scrub. Honey is one ingredient that works like magic when mixed with lemon juice.
8. Oils. Last but not least, moisturizing is a must. After all the remedies and exfoliation, you cannot miss this crucial step moisturize. Coconut oil and almond oil are great natural moisturizers. After all the other remedies are done, massage oils onto effected areas. Almond oil helps even out skin tone while coconut oil has vitamin E which prevents dryness and also has
skin lightening properties.
Other than these tips, always remember to cleanse regularly with mild cleansers or natural cleansers to prevent build-up of dirt, and wear sunscreen routinely to prevent more sunburns. These natural methods of improving skin texture is always much better than chemical products, as they have no side effects and no one will become resistant to them upon increased use. Take a walk on the natural side, and let nature help you with your skin problems.
